They have a nasty habit of dropping their eggs in other birds nests. Sometimes they even knock existing eggs out of the nest to make room for one of their eggs. Fortunately, we only feed our bird friends Black sunflower seeds. Cowbirds do not like this menu item, so they quickly move on. When found, the cowbird eggs quickly leave the nest.
