Angbac and Greble

On May 11, 2014…
Angbac and his crow-wife Greble arrived today for the spring and summer season at the farm. They perched above me in the Mighty Maples, seriously pretending they were not observing me, when in fact they studied me carefully.

Crows are amazingly clever. They are able to recognize individual humans by face identification. So, as they huffled their feathers and pretended not to stare- I wondered if Angbac saw the new grey hairs that developed from surviving the past Maine winter. Then I chuckled.

It’s Mother’s Day! My crows have come to pay their respects to their crow-mother who feeds them, sings to them and calls them by name. I think they should have brought flowers, though…

….just saying.
